Soundscape is a deep listening experience where you are supported by a community of practitioners. There are multiple components to this workshop so be prepared for a ceremonious journey. Together, we’ll drink CBD tea, breathe through guided meditation, practice group resonance, relax in savasana, andrelease tension while bathed in calming crystal bowl vibrations, vocal improvisation, and resonant instruments. There will be some light movement accompanying these practices. Each of the techniques taught in this workshop can be modified to trigger peace and calm in your daily life; there is ample backing for their efficacy and they are utilized by medical practitioners around the globe. Among proponents of these methods are Silvia Nakkach, on faculty at UC Berkeley, as well as the late oncologist Mitchell Gaynor who saw marked benefits in stress relief with even his most terminal patients.
These practices are designed to harmonize body, mind and spirit. Side effects of this workshop include profound relaxation and refreshing mental lightness.
Wear comfortable clothes. Open to ALL levels. Please arrive 15 min. early and mention any scent allergies/sensitivities upon arrival.
Yoga mats and blankets are provided.
Maraliz is a Paraguayan-American yoga instructor and certified sound practitioner. Offering workshops and weekly classes in New York and Texas, she guides her students through increased self awareness, yoga therapeutics, meditation, and sound vibrations using her kinesthetic approach to instruction. Mindfulness practices saturate every class she teaches and her previous work with refugees and victims of abuse informs her interactions with each student.
Currently, she lives in NY and studies sound with her teacher Sara Auster. She completed her yoga teachertraining while undergoing chemotherapy and her certification was granted by her mentor Jyl Kutche, whom she shadowed for 8 months thereafter, at the Dallas Yoga Center in 2015. That same year, she participated in training and a transmission ceremony of the Five Mindfulness Trainings with Terry Cortes-Vega at the Dallas Meditation Center. Maraliz now helps others find relief from all types of stress and pain with vocal/instrumental vibrations and movement.
